I attended Leicester Polytechnic, UK where I completed a BSc in Computing and Mathematics

I attended Edinburgh University, UK where I completed an MSc in Image Processing and Remote Sensing Technology

I attended Edge Hill College of Education, UK where I completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Education

How long have you been at Immaculata? 9 years, I arrived in August 2011

The friendly and supportive family atmosphere created by the staff and the students

The friendly atmosphere generated by the staff, students, and families of the Immaculata community

What life lessons do you hope to convey to our students?

Be courageous, be confident, be kind, by graceful, and be the best version of yourself

What is the best lesson you’ve learned from a student?

How I should have been when I was at school

What were you like in high school?

I’d rather not say much. What I will say is I was a lot younger than I am now

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy volunteering for the society of St. Vincent de Paul. I am a member of the St. Pius X conference. I like to watch sports. I support the Liverpool Football(Soccer) team, I follow the European professional cycling, especially the Tour de France, and I watch Darts, 180! I like to travel I. I enjoy exploring the Gulf Islands and the Discovery Islands off the Eastern coast of Vancouver Island. I love to travel to the UK to visit with family and friends. I enjoy being in the kitchen, cooking. I love to bake and hope to work in a café at some point in my life.

Who are the most important people in your life?

My wife Lisa. Lisa is Canadian. Lisa grew up in Terrace B.C. and works as a teacher in School District 23. Lisa loves being by or in the water. We met in the UK in 2000. We married in 2003 and then spent 8 years together in Budapest, Hungary teaching in an international school. My son Simon, age 14 and my daughter Molly aged 12 were both born in Budapest and were fluent in Hungarian at age 6 and 4. Simon and Molly attend Dr. Knox Middle School. They are in the French Immersion Program. Simon loves hockey and Molly enjoys soccer and basketball. They both love the water too.

My favorite food is my Aunty Pauline’s fruit trifle - delicious

My favorite vacation location is St. Helens Merseyside, England, UK closely followed by The Isle of Anglesey, Wales, UK

If I won $1 million I would give money to housing projects here in Kelowna under the guidance of St. Vincent de Paul. I would buy a modest holiday home in St. Helens and on the Isle of Anglesey.

My nickname at high school in the UK was Willow. When I first arrived at Immaculata in August 2011 Mr. Melnyk gave me the nickname Mitch.
